Jean Georges Schlichtig. Jean Georges Schlichtig became a master October 2, 1765, pretty late since he was 40 years old. According to the workshop's inventory after his death, he died in February 1782. He is of German origin, as almost two thirds of cabinetmakers living rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine in PARIS, such as Weisweiler, BVRR, Oeben, RIESENER .... . At his death, his widow continued the business until 1787. The bulk of Schlichtig production dateS of the transitional Louis XV-Louis XVI styles. It showed a preference for commodes. The décor is typically inlaid with butterfly or rose marqueterie. The bronze ornaments are of high quality, often muted.
